DUCKS-JACKETS SWAP

The Anaheim Ducks acquired forward Geoff Platt and defenseman Bruno St. Jacques from the Columbus Blue Jackets for defensemen Aaron Rome and Clay Wilson.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Platt is a smallish forward with a little scoring upside. Unfortunately, he has failed whenever given a shot at the big-league level. He may get another chance if the Ducks continue to have issues with their secondary scoring. As part of the deal, defenseman Bruno St. Jacques, who was on a minor-league contract with the Syracuse Crunch, will also join the Portland Pirates.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets get a little defensive depth with this move, which was mainly designed to help out their AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Rome is the better prospect but Wilson is more versatile because he can play both defense and wing. Rome may get recalled at some point to provide a little insurance if injuries mount along the Columbus blueline.
