KINGS DEAL FOR KEVIN FIALA
The Los Angeles Kings acquired winger Kevin Fiala from the Minnesota Wild for defenseman Brock Faber and a first-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 19 overall).
What does it give the Los Angeles Kings
In Fiala, the Kings get a proven scoring winger who can be an impact player on both special teams. Fiala, who turns 26 in late July, should fit in well with LA's core group up front. He can line up on either wing, which adds to his overall value. This is a good pickup for the Kings.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Faber, who turns 20 in August, is a native Minnesotan (which is an added bonus). He has spent two seasons at the University of Minnesota and likely needs at least one more season of college hockey before turning pro. The No. 19 overall pick in this year's draft now gives the Wild two first-rounders.
Fantasy impact
Fiala's fantasy value may dip a little bit moving from the more offensive Wild to the more defensive Kings. Do not overrate him on draft day. As for Faber, he is a few years away from fantasy relevance.
