ADIN HILL HEADS TO VEGAS
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired goaltender Adin Hill from the San Jose Sharks for a fourth-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
The Knights desperately needed goaltending help after losing projected starter Robin Lehner for the entire 2022-23 campaign due to injury. His backup from last season (Laurent Brossoit) will also miss the start of '22-23 because of injury. So, Hill should have a good opportunity in Vegas, where he will likely challenge rookie Logan Thompson for minutes.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
It is a little surprising that the Sharks moved Hill (and not veteran James Reimer) considering that they are beginning what could be a lengthy rebuild under new GM Mike Grier. That said, Hill is an oft-injured 'keeper and San Jose has Kaapo Kahkonen as a young running mate for Reimer, so the deal does make some sense from a San Jose perspective.
Fantasy impact
Hill's value could increase with the move to Vegas, since the Golden Knights should provide more support than San Jose in '22-23. Instead of challenging Kahkonen and Reimer for playing time, Hill now goes head to head with Thompson. The latter is still the better fantasy option, though.
