JETS TRADE FOR NINO NIEDERREITER
The Winnipeg Jets acquired winger Nino Niederreiter from the Nashville Predators for a second-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
Niederreiter had 28 points in 56 games for the Predators and should add an offensive touch to the Jets top-nine forwards group. His addition should help offset the loss of rookie forward Cole Perfetti, who is expected to miss the next eight weeks due to injury.
What does it give the Nashville Predators
This deal signifies that the Predators are leaning towards being sellers at the NHL trade deadline. This could be the first of many more moves. Acquiring a second-round draft pick in '24, while not retaining salary, is a good start to a possible retool.
Fantasy impact
Monitor Niederreiter's usage before picking him up. He is unlikely to play on the top power play in Winnipeg, but could be worth having on most fantasy rosters if he gets a chance to play in the Jets' loaded top-six forwards group.
