LESSARD FOR SKINNER
The New York Islanders acquired winger Junior Lessard from the Atlanta Thrashers for Brett Skinner.
What does it give the New York Islanders
Lessard has never been able to put it all together at the NHL level but he may get another crack on Long Island. The natural right-winger may get a shot if the team trades captain Bill Guerin before the trading deadline.
What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
Skinner is an offensive rearguard but the Thrashers have a few fo those on the roster. Even if they decide to trade Mathieu Schneider, Skinner's chances of playing regularly in Atlanta won't greatly improve. He will add depth, however.
