The Carolina Hurricanes acquired Shayne Gostisbehere from the Arizona Coyotes for a third-round draft pick in 2026.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have been using the same group of defensemen for most of the 2022-23 campaign, but Gostisbehere should provide an upgrade on their third pairing down the stretch. He might be a pure rental as a pending UFA.
What does it give the Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes liked what Gostisbehere brought to the team, so there is a chance that he might decide to return to Arizona in free agency this summer. For now, the Coyotes will get a future asset. Either way, it is a solid move for them.
Fantasy impact
Gostisbehere should see significantly less ice time in Carolina, but his plus/minus total should benefit greatly from the move. Still, Gostisbehere is not very recommendable at this time.
