TAMPA BAY TRADES NAMESTNIKOV TO SAN JOSE
The San Jose Sharks acquired forward Vladislav Namestnikov from the Tampa Bay Lightning for forward Michael Eyssimont.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
This is a bit of a strange deal at this time, since the Sharks are acquiring the older, more expensive player here. Namestnikov is also a pending UFA, so he may only be in San Jose for the final few weeks of this season. The Sharks may like his game, however, so he could be a nice fit for the rebuilding franchise.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning moved out a little bit of salary with this trade, although they had to agree to retain half of Namestnikov's cap hit for the rest of 2022-23. In Eyssimont, Tampa Bay is receiving a serviceable NHL forward whose versatility is an asset. He may be used as the Bolts' 13th forward down the stretch.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as neither Namestnikov nor Eyssimont move the needle enough from a production standpoint to take a chance on. Pass.
