TOFFOLI TRADED FOR SHARANGOVICH
The New Jersey Devils acquired winger Tyler Toffoli from the Calgary Flames for forward Yegor Sharangovich and a third-round draft pick in 2023 (No. 80 overall).
What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Toffoli, who has one more season left on his contract, will be an important secondary scorer for a young Devils team that needs more veteran presence in the lineup. Toffoli, a Stanley Cup winner, is an ideal fit for New Jersey.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames are going to have to remake a lot of their roster on the fly, mostly because many of Calgary's key players do not want to re-sign with them. So, adding someone like Sharangovich and a third-rounder is good value for Calgary.
Fantasy impact
Toffoli will probably see around 16:30-17:00 of ice time per game in New Jersey, which is enough for him to put up solid numbers. However, he might see less time on the top power-play unit. Stay tuned. As for Sharangovich, he has a chance to bust out with more ice time and responsibilities in Calgary. He might be a sleeper in 2023-24.
