BLACKHAWKS BRING IN BAILEY
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired winger Josh Bailey and a second-round draft pick in 2026 from the New York Islanders for future considerations.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks should be able to get some usage out of Bailey, who wound up being a healthy scratch a lot with the Islanders late last season. Chicago has cap space, so they are landing a future second-rounder to take on Bailey's contract here.
What does it give the New York Islanders
The Islanders were the only team Bailey ever played for–until now. GM Lou Lamoriello does not have time for nostalgia, though. He needs cap space in order to improve his roster, so Bailey needed to be sacrificed. This is only the first move by the Isles this off-season.
Fantasy impact
Bailey should play regularly in Chicago, but that may not be good enough to make him a worthy option in most fantasy leagues. He is a 50/50 proposition at this point.
