CANUCKS SEND STUDNICKA TO SHARKS
The San Jose Sharks acquired forward Jack Studnicka from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Nick Cicek and a sixth-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks need help at every position, so expect them to make a lot of moves over the course of this season. Studnicka is a serviceable and versatile forward with NHL experience. When the Sharks start selling off assets, expect Studnicka to be recalled. In fact, he might return to the NHL even sooner.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
For the Canucks, adding Cicek is a solid depth move. Vancouver is continuing to add more depth to their blueline with this trade, while also adding a draft pick as a throw-in to this deal. Overall, this is a good trade for both teams but Vancouver looks like they got the upper hand, since two assets are better than one.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade, as neither Studnicka nor Cicek has a lot of value. If/when they both return to the National Hockey League, it will be as role players.
