TARASENKO TRADED TO THE PANTHERS

The Florida Panthers acquired winger Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2024 and a third-round draft pick in 2025.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
In Tarasenko, the Panthers acquire a quality scoring winger who should help them down the stretch and in the playoffs. He is an unrestricted free agent, as are others on the roster, but Florida is clearly in win-now mode at present time. They will deal with their contract situations this summer.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
For the Senators, the 2023-24 campaign could have not been more of a disappointment. Tarasenko was expected to be a final piece to a playoff squad, but that never materialized. So, they shipped him out to South Florida for a pair of draft picks. Ottawa is still expected to make more moves.

Fantasy impact
Tarasenko will likely skate on the third line with the Panthers, as he was brought in for depth scoring. Therefore, he is a good trade candidate in many fantasy leagues at this time. In terms of keeper leagues, his 2024-25 club is completely up in the air at the moment, but he could see his value skyrocket if he re-signs with Florida (and Sam Reinhart leaves as a UFA). But that is a lot of ifs.
