DUCLAIR DEALT TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired winger Anthony Duclair and a seventh-round draft pick in 2025 from the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Jack Thompson and a third-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
For the Lightning, Duclair should fill a huge need for more secondary scoring. Tampa Bay relies way too heavily on their first line and their top power-play unit for offense. Duclair is a pending UFA, so he is probably just a rental acquisition.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
For the lowly Sharks, getting futures back for any of their players before the trade deadline is a good thing. Thompson is a decent blueline prospect who could get a better opportunity in San Jose. Adding a third-rounder in '24 is a bonus. A nice deal for all.
Fantasy impact
Both Duclair and Thompson should be moving to better situations for their respective careers. Duclair might even be worth picking up down the stretch. Thompson can be ignored for the time being.
