AVS ADD GOALTENDING DEPTH

The Colorado Avalanche acquired goaltender Kevin Mandolese and a seventh-round draft pick in 2026 from the Ottawa Senators for a sixth-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
Lost in the marathon of the '23-24 season was the Avalanche's struggles to find consistent depth goaltending–leaving them no choice but to ride Alexander Georgiev. Mandolese will likely slot in as Colorado's third goalkeeper to start '24-25 and they will hope he can give them serviceable minutes.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
For the Senators, they continue to remodel their goaltending position. With Linus Ullmark firmly in the starting spot, followed by Anton Forsberg and Mads Sogaard, there was no longer an opportunity for Mandolese. So they decided to give the player a fresh start, and move up a round in the draft in return.

Fantasy impact
If all goes to plan in Colorado, Mandolese will be in the AHL throughout the '24-25 season–giving him no fantasy value.
