PERREAULT FOR HOEFENMAYER

The Edmonton Oilers acquired forward Jacob Perreault from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer.

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
Perreault was a first-round draft pick in 2020 but has played just one NHL game to date. He spent the past several seasons in the AHL but was demoted to the ECHL this year. The 22-year-old will now start fresh in Edmonton's organization, which could use the depth at forward.

What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
Hoefenmayer has produced decently as an offensive defenseman in the AHL the past few seasons. The 25-year-old Toronto native will get a new look in the minor leagues with the Habs. He has yet to make his NHL debut but may get a better opportunity with Montreal.

Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Neither player is likely to see much NHL ice time anytime soon. That said, keep an eye on both Perreault and Hoefenmayer.
