JETS, 'HAWKS DEAL DEFENSEMEN
The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Isaak Phillips from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Dmitri Kuzmin.
What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
In Phillips, the Jets add a lanky blueliner with a little NHL experience, including three games in 2024-25. Still only 23, Phillips will likely serve a depth role for Winnipeg. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Kuzmin is a far smaller blueliner but the Belarusian has pretty good talent. He has yet to make his NHL debut but should get a far better opportunity with the rebuilding Blackhawks. The 21-year-old could see his first NHL action later this campaign.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here. That said, keep an eye on both defensemen to see how they progress with their new organizations. This deal should help both Phillips and Kuzmin.
