NYQUIST MOVED TO MINNESOTA
The Minnesota Wild acquired winger Gustav Nyquist from the Nashville Predators for a second-round draft pick in 2026.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Nyquist played briefly with the Wild in 2022-23, so he is familiar with his new surroundings. There are also several fellow Swedes on Minnesota, so he is expected to have a seamless transition to the Wild. They need immediate help, since their two best players (arguably) are currently sidelined with injuries (Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek).
What does it give the Nashville Predators
It has been a disastrous 2024-25 campaign for the Predators, so it is no surprise that they are in the position of sellers one week before the NHL trade deadline. Getting back a second-round pick in '26 looks like great business for Nashville, since the '26 draft class is considered far superior to this year's selection candidates. Nashville may not be done selling.
Fantasy impact
Nyquist was one of the Predators who went ice cold this season, so it cannot get worse for him after this trade. In very deep leagues, he is worth picking up.
