ATLANTA ADDS LADD

The Atlanta Thrashers acquired left-winger Andrew Ladd from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a second-round draft pick in 2011.

What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
The Thrashers have become Chicago-south, thanks to new GM Rick Dudley--who used to be with Chicago. Ladd joins Dustin Byfuglien and Brent Sopel as two other Stanley Cup winners with Chicago that are now with Atlanta. Ladd adds even more brute strength to the Thrashers. He will help here.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks shed yet another salary in Ladd, and add an inexpensive defenseman in Vishnevskiy and a second rounder. That's good value when under the gun. Vishnevskiy, who is rumored to be interested in signing with a KHL club, could get a much better opportunity to crack Chicago's lineup.
