PAETSCH TO VANCOUVER

The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Nathan Paetsch from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Sean Zimmerman.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
This is strictly a depth move for the Canucks, who have been busy making moves based on their salary cap lately. Paetsch is versatile, but won't be much of a factor in the NHL.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
Zimmerman is an AHL-caliber defenseman with little upside, but at least the Panthers were able to deal Paetsch's salary. This could lead to the return of Keaton Ellerby to South Florida.
