PENGUINS ADD DEPTH WITH JOKINEN
The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Jussi Jokinen from the Carolina Hurricanes for a conditional draft pick in 2013.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins were looking for a stop-gap measure on offense to replace the injured {P Sidney Crosby}, so Jokinen is a nice fit. He can play center during Crosby's absence, then slide over to either wing position upon Crosby's return. Jokinen has skill and creativity, so he may help the Pens down the stretch.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The 'Canes mainly get rid of a player here that wasn't working out anymore. He was under contract for one more season with a salary-cap hit of $3 million for 2013-14, so Carolina was happy to simply move him at this time...even if it meant retaining some of his salary. The pick won't likely amount to much.
Fantasy impact
Jokinen could actually have a major fantasy impact by season's end, assuming he meshes well with his new teammates. If he stays in Pittsburgh beyond this season, he could really benefit from playing with the Pens.
