FLAMES GET NCAA PROSPECT KNIGHT

The Calgary Flames acquired center Corban Knight from the Florida Panthers for a fourth-round draft pick in 2013.

What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames hope Knight has a future in the NHL, following a solid four-year career at the University of North Dakota. He's a skilled, pesky center with a projectable frame and ties to Western Canada. Therefore, he could be in line to succeed as a Flame.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
The Panthers weren't able to come to contract terms with Knight, so they decided to move him to a team that had a better shot at inking him. Calgary did just that, so Florida moves on with another fourth rounder in their stable of picks. Everybody wins.

Fantasy impact
Knight has a chance to move quickly in the Flames organization if he proves he can produce as a pro. However, he will need a little time in the minor leagues to prove himself. Still, he has some deep keeper-league fantasy appeal.
