GALIARDI GOES TO CALGARY

The Calgary Flames acquired forward T.J. Galiardi from the San Jose Sharks for a fourth-round draft pick in 2015.

What does it give the Calgary Flames
In Galiardi, the Flames land an agitating type who is coming home: born in Calgary, he also played both junior A and major junior hockey in his hometown. The 25-year-old is more of a bottom-six forward but he can hit the 35-40 point (as he displayed as a rookie with the Avalanche in 2009-10) if given enough ice time.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks were hopeful of moving a contract or two before the start of free agency on July 5, so dealing away Galiardi made sense. The arrival of {P Tyler Kennedy} via trade from Pittsburgh made Galiardi somewhat expendable. The Sharks may also move forward with the likes of {P James Sheppard} in a similar role.

Fantasy impact
Galiardi is no more than a dark horse in terms of his current fantasy value, whether he's in San Jose or Calgary. He might do well in his hometown but it's certainly not a given at this point.
