FLAMES GET ENFORCER WESTGARTH
The Calgary Flames acquired winger Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes for forward Greg Nemisz.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames are trying to become a tougher team, which seems to be the mantra under President of Hockey Operations/Interim General Manager {B Brian Burke}. After landing {P Lane MacDermid} in an earlier deal, the Flames now get 29-year-old enforcer Westgarth. With {P Brian McGrattan} already in tow, Calgary has plenty of fighting options for the fourth line.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
Nemisz has been a major disappointment since being selected 25th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He'll get a chance at redemption with the Hurricanes, a squad that lacks size and physical presence on the wings. Skating has always been his biggest issue, but he's still only 23 and can make it as a fourth liner at the highest level if given an opportunity.
Fantasy impact
Neither Westgarth nor Nemisz has much fantasy value, aside from an ability to rack up penalty minutes (especially Westgarth). In fact, Nemisz would have a little more upside from a fantasy standpoint if he registered more in the PIM stat.
