PREDS ACQUIRE DEL ZOTTO FOR KLEIN

The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the New York Rangers for defenseman Kevin Klein.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
For the Predators, this deal provides a little more offense from the back end, at the expense of stability and toughness. Del Zotto can rush the puck up the ice and make plays in the offensive zone, so he should help the offensively-challenged Preds. Look for him to see some time on the power play in Nashville, as well. Nashville got the infusion of offensive ability they need here.

What does it give the New York Rangers
Klein is a right-shooting defenseman (as opposed to Del Zotto, a lefty), which now gives the Rangers three of each hand among their starting six defensemen. Klein will bring a more physical presence than Del Zotto, plus solid stay-at-home qualities and leadership. He's also insurance for the team should they decide to deal (or not re-sign) pending unrestricted free agent {P Dan Girardi}.

Fantasy impact
Del Zotto's fantasy value will probably remain the same in Nashville, a notoriously defensive club, though he may see an increase in playing time and he isn't likely to be a healthy scratch with his new team (as opposed to his stint in New York this season). Klein's value should remain the same, as he's a more valuable defenseman in real life than on fantasy rosters.
