CANUCKS GET D CLENDENING FROM 'HAWKS

The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Adam Clendening from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Gustav Forsling.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
In this swap of promising defensemen, the Canucks land the player closer to the NHL in Clendening--who was caught in the numbers game as a right-shooting defender in the Blackhawks organization. He is undersized but highly skilled, and might get an opportunity in Vancouver this season (especially with {P Kevin Bieksa} currently out of action).

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Since Clendening was not able to supplant {P David Rundblad} in Chicago, and had even lost some ground to {P Trevor van Riemsdyk} earlier this season (prior to van Riemsdyk going down to injury), the Blackhawks did him a favor by moving him to another organization. In return, the 'Hawks get a quality blueline prospect for their long-range future in Forsling--who was recently a brilliant performer for Sweden at the 2015 WJC.

Fantasy impact
Clendening's fantasy stock should move in a positive direction now that he has moved on himself. He is a quality offensive defenseman. As for Forsling, he may have even more keeper appeal but is only 18 years old and won't be a factor in Chicago for a few years.
