DUCKS GRAB FLEISCHMANN FROM FLORIDA
The Anaheim Ducks acquired winger Tomas Fleischmann from the Florida Panthers for winger Dany Heatley and a third-round draft pick in 2015.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks continue to search for a left-winger to play on the top line with {P Ryan Getzlaf} and {P Corey Perry}. Fleischmann will likely be the latest experiment there, following this move. The Ducks recently added {P Jiri Sekac} from Montreal, and have tried pretty much every other winger on the roster on Line 1. The 30-year-old Fleischmann may enjoy a new lease on life in Anaheim.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
For the Panthers, this move was expected. Fleischmann was one of the veteran forwards Florida GM Dale Tallon wanted to ship out in order to give more playing time to his youth this season. This deal allows for that to happen. The third rounder could be a solid addition for the Panthers, and is the key to the deal. Heatley's NHL days are probably over but Anaheim needed to move a contract here.
Fantasy impact
Fleischmann could end up with a significant spike in fantasy value if he sticks on Anaheim's big line with Getzlaf and Perry. Even if he doesn't, Fleischmann could be a fantasy sleeper down the stretch. Heatley is probably done in terms of being fantasy relevant.
