WILD LAND LEOPOLD
The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Columbus Blue Jackets for defenseman Justin Falk and a fifth-round draft pick in 2015.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Defensive depth here, as the Wild have run into a lot of injuries along the blueline this season. Leopold provides more veteran insurance, plus another left defenseman (a necessity in case {P Keith Ballard} isn't able to play again in 2014-15).
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Falk is an aggressive depth defenseman, and his contract was probably needed to be off the books for Minnesota to complete this deal. He'll add some depth for Columbus but isn't likely to play much in the NHL for the rest of 2014-15.
Fantasy impact
There won't be much fantasy impact here. Leopold will play limited minutes in Minnesota, while Falk has no value unless he's racking up penalty minutes
