LIGHTNING ACQUIRE D WALCOTT

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Daniel Walcott from the New York Rangers for a seventh-round draft pick in 2015.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The Bolts aren't too busy preparing for the Stanley Cup finals to add more future assets, apparently. In Walcott, they get an undersized offensive defenseman who was drafted in the fifth round (140th overall) by the Rangers. Already 21 years old, he should begin his Lightning career in the AHL in 2015-16.

What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers weren't prepared to sign Walcott to an entry-level contract, apparently, so they decided to deal him to the Bolts in order to get back their seventh rounder from Tampa Bay that they had originally sent to Tampa Bay as part of the Martin St. Louis-Ryan Callahan swap of 2014.

Fantasy impact
Walcott has plenty of offensive upside, so he should now be on the fantasy hockey radar in keeper leagues. That said, it may take a while for him to land in the NHL.
