PANTHERS ADD C McKEGG FROM TORONTO

The Florida Panthers acquired center Greg McKegg from the Toronto Maple Leafs for center Zach Hyman and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2017.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
McKegg is a 23-year-old center who can become a restricted free agent on July 1. He should provide depth scoring for the Panthers but should continue to spend most of his time in the American Hockey League.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Hyman was not going to sign with Florida after his four-year career at the University of Michigan but the 23-year-old Toronto native should quickly sign on the dotted line with the Leafs. He'll add depth and replace McKegg in the AHL.

Fantasy impact
Neither McKegg nor Hyman has huge fantasy upside but this deal could help both players get on track. That said, both are depth players at this point.
