BROWN HEADS TO VANCOUVER
The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Sean Brown from the New Jersey Devils for a fourth-round draft pick in 2006.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks need more depth along the blueline, especially since the team has been depleted recently with injuries. Therefore, they've made the call out for Brown, who was a regular for Jersey earlier this season before tumbling back to a reserve role. Brown won't play in the playoffs, unless the triumvirate of Ed Jovanovski, Matthias Ohlund and Sami Salo are still out with injury woes.
What does it give the New Jersey Devils
This is a good deal for the Devils, who get fourth-round value for a spare part. New Jersey has upgraded the blueline with recent additions Ken Klee and Brad Lukowich, so losing Brown won't hurt at all. Furthermore, the Devils are still eight NHLers deep along the blueline, though Richard Matvichuk's recent injury is a concern.
