HABS ADD WISNIEWSKI

The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenseman James Wisniewski from the New York Islanders for a second-round draft pick in 2011 and a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2012.

What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
The Habs have been looking for defensive help since losing Andrei Markov to another long-term injury. Wisniewski will help the power play, as well as provide more physicality along the blueline. He's a potential UFA on July 1, so this move is viewed as strictly a short-term move by Montreal.

What does it give the New York Islanders
The Islanders are going nowhere fast this season, so they did well to add a second rounder to their draft picks stable for 2011...as well as another pick for 2012, potentially. The emergence of Travis Hamonic at the NHL level likely made Wisniewski expendable at this time.
