BLUES ADD GRACHEV
The St. Louis Blues acquired winger Evgeny Grachev from the New York Rangers for a third-round draft pick in 2011.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
Grachev didn't pan out with the Rangers, so a change of scenery was in order. The Blues could be a nice fit for the big Russian winger, who has loads of untapped talent. For now, he adds depth up front but he might force his way into a prominent role. He's only 21, so there's still time here.
What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers decided to cut ties with Grachev, their third-round pick (75th overall) in 2008. In return, they received a third rounder who turned into projectable Minnesota high-school center Steven Fogarty. The Rangers now turn the page on a failed prospect who might still amount to something with his new organization.
