BRUINS-DUCKS MAKE DEAL

The Anaheim Ducks acquired center Mark Mowers from the Boston Bruins for defensemen Nathan Saunders and Brett Skinner.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
A hardworking, versatile center who is also capable of playing on either wing, Mowers will soften the blow of Samuel Pahlsson being out of the lineup for a couple of weeks--he will add depth to the forward corps in general.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
With the acquistion of young checking pivot Petterri Nokelainen from the Islanders earlier in the month, Mowers was expendable. In Skinner the team acquired a player with some offensive potential that could grow to be a No. 4 or No. 5 defenseman. In Saunders, the team now has a big, strong stay-at-home type who is still a couple of years away from competing for a roster spot.
