YANKS, TIGERS, D-BACKS SWAP SEVEN

In a three-team trade, the New York Yankees acquired outfielder Curtis Granderson from the Detroit Tigers; Detroit acquired pitchers Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth from the Arizona Diamondbacks, and pitcher Phil Coke and outfielder Austin Jackson

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Granderson, the Yankees land a left-handed bat that could help replace Johnny Damon and/or Hideki Matsui, assuming one of both are not returning. Granderson can play center or left field, and will add more speed and power to an already potent Yankees lineup.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks needed better starting pitching, so they're hopeful both Jackson and Kennedy can help in this area. Jackson will likely slot into the third spot in the rotation, behind veterans Dan Haren and Brandon Webb (healthy permitting), while Kennedy should get a shot at winning a spot at the back end of the rotation.

What does it give the
The Tigers reduced payroll with the dealing of Granderson and Edwin Jackson, but may have also acquired his center-field successor in the speedy Austin Jackson. They also replaced Edwin Jackson with Scherzer, who may have more potential for the rotation. Lastly, Coke and Schlereth are more lefty bullpen candidates.
