BOSTON BRINGS IN BREWER

The Boston Red Sox acquired pitcher Colten Brewer from the San Diego Padres for infielder Esteban Quiroz.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox, despite being the World Series champions, still have issues with their bullpen. To that end, they hope the 26-year-old Brewer can find a role in Boston in 2019 (after spending time in San Diego in 2018). He will compete for a job in spring training.

What does it give the San Diego Padres
In Quiroz, the Padres add a 26-year-old infielder who has spent plenty of time in his native Mexico playing at a high level. He should get a decent shot at cracking the San Diego roster during spring training. He is a decent pickup here for a reliever.

Fantasy impact
Neither Brewer nor Quiroz should be on the fantasy radar for now, as neither are guaranteed to be in the major leagues when the 2019 campaign opens next year.
