MARINERS ADD AUSTIN ADAMS
The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Austin Adams from the Washington Nationals for pitcher Nick Wells and cash.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners are the latest team to give Adams' talent a shot, after Washington recently gave up on him (he was originally drafted by the Angels). Adams will pitch at Triple-A Tacoma for the time being but should see time in Seattle this year.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals recently designated Adams for assignment, so they were at least able to land two assets for him. Wells is a left-handed starter with modest credentials who had been pitching at high Single-A ball.
Fantasy impact
Adams is starting to run out of time to put it all together as a big-league reliever. For now, he remains off the fantasy radar. Ditto Wells, who may never reach MLB (let alone fantasy status).
