YANKEES, ROCKIES SWAP HURLERS

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Alfredo Garcia from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Joe Harvey.

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Garcia, the Yankees land a 20-year-old left-hander with excellent strikeout ability. His numbers this season were not great in the South Atlantic League so he was demoted to Short Season Boise by the Rockies. This appears to be a potential steal by the Bronx Bombers, especially in exchange for a 27-year-old reliever.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies must love Harvey and expect him to contribute to the big-league team relatively soon. He appeared in nine games with the Yankees earlier this season, so a promotion to Colorado may soon be in the offing. He should have far more short-term value than Garcia but without the same amount of upside. Did Colorado give up too much for Harvey?

Fantasy impact
Both pitchers should now be on the keeper radar, especially Garcia. Meanwhile, Harvey has a chance to become a late-inning reliever for the Rockies, so monitor his progress this season.
