FRANKIE MONTAS MOVED TO NEW YORK

The New York Yankees acquired pitchers Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino from the Oakland Athletics for pitchers JP Sears, Ken Waldichuk and Luis Medina, and infielder Cooper Bowman.

What does it give the New York Yankees
The Yankees land one of the prizes of this year's deadline in Montas, a quality right-hander who should be part of their starting rotation for years to come. Trivino is also a serviceable reliever for New York's bullpen. The Yankees did give up a lot here, though.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Sears, Waldichuk and Medina are all quality starter prospects who could all become part of Oakland's rotation in the not-too-distant future. Bowman is more of a long shot prospect. The Athletics were able to get good value for Montas, so they did well here.

Fantasy impact
Montas should have a nice spike in fantasy value moving from Oakland to the Bronx, but Trivino loses value as a middle reliever for the Yankees. Sears should finally emerge as a starter in MLB as an Oakland Athletic, while Waldichuk and Medina remain quality starter prospects. Bowman is a dart throw.
