WONG, WINKER SWITCH PLACES

The Seattle Mariners acquired second baseman Kolten Wong and cash from the Milwaukee Brewers for designated hitter/outfielder Jesse Winker and infielder Abraham Toro.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners mostly used free agent Adam Frazier and Toro at second base in 2022, so Wong should be a solid upgrade next season. He is not a spectacular addition but Wong should help Seattle quite a bit in 2023.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee did not want to keep paying Wong, so they shipped him out for two serviceable position players. Winker may share DH and left field duties with Christian Yelich in '23, while Toro has a chance to replace Wong at second.

Fantasy impact
All of Wong, Winker and Toro could benefit from this trade. Wong is a late-round draft option at the keystone position. There are usually better options in most leagues, but he is never a bad fall-back plan. Winker may end up in a platoon situation with a right-handed hitter, but there is a strong bounce-back possibility with him. Toro has untapped potential but could wind up as a utility infielder in Milwaukee. Monitor his situation during spring training next year.
