ANGELS ADD ONE LAST PITCHER
The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitcher Dominic Leone and cash from the New York Mets for infielder Jeremiah Jackson.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
Leone had been pitching in middle relief for the Mets. He should assume the same role now that he is with the Angels. He has averaged just over a strikeout per inning, which is always a good trait to have coming out of the 'pen. It does seem like a lot to give up for a player who will not likely pitch in high-leverage situations for the Halos.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets get good value for a reliever at the buzzer on deadline day. Jackson was a second-round draft pick in 2018, and was ranked as the Angels' No. 9 prospect (according to MLB.com). He has struggled with injuries, but when healthy he has flashed some power. Overall, the Mets have done well with their additions in this unexpected fire sale.
Fantasy impact
Jackson's power could be enticing, especially for keeper leagues. There is just no guarantee that he will make it to the big leagues. So, temper your fantasy expectations. Leone offers virtually no fantasy value.
