TRIBE ACQUIRE LARS ANDERSON

The Cleveland Indians acquired first baseman/outfielder Lars Anderson from the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Steve Wright.

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Anderson was once a top prospect with the Red Sox, but his path has since been blocked by the presence of Adrian Gonzalez at first base. There is no such road block in Cleveland, where Casey Kotchman is considered a stopgap measure. Matt LaPorta's star is also fading, so Anderson may get an opportunity in Cleveland soon. This is a solid move with a potentially high return.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Wright is an intriguing prospect because he's a knuckleballer who is having a very good season at Double-A ball. He's also at the age (he turns 28 next month) where some knuckleballers bust onto the scene. Therefore, this looks like a deal that may wind up benefiting both teams while falling significantly under the radar.
