RANGERS GET RELIEVER DYSON FROM MIAMI
The Texas Rangers acquired pitcher Sam Dyson from the Miami Marlins for catcher Tomas Telis and pitcher Cody Ege.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers are gunning for a Wild Card berth after acquiring ace lefty Cole Hamels in a mega-deal with Philadelphia. So, adding more bullpen depth in the form of Dyson also makes sense. They gave up young catcher Telis and a decent arm in Ege in order to make the deal.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
For the Marlins, who are not contenders this season, adding a young catcher such as Telis and promising pitcher like Ege for a bullpen arm like Dyson is a solid move at this point. Telis may at some point join J.T. Realmuto as Miami's catching tandem of the future.
Fantasy impact
Dyson, Telis and Ege are not fantasy factors at this time, but they all may become more relevant down the road.
