IANNETTA TO THE ANGELS

The Los Angeles Angels acquired catcher Chris Iannetta from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Tyler Chatwood.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels value defensive ability behind the plate, even more than most teams, so Iannetta could see plenty of action. He's an offensive upgrade over Jeff Mathis but not quite the hitter Hank Conger is. Still, Iannetta may work out nicely for Mike Scioscia's Angels.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Chatwood is a solid prospect with pretty good upside. He only turns 22 later in December, but already made 25 starts in the bigs last season. He isn't a lock for the Rockies rotation in 2012 (they're still looking for pitching), but he'll get a good shot in spring training.
