PORZINGIS PICKED UP BY WASHINGTON

The Washington Wizards acquired center/forward Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round draft pick in 2022 from the Dallas Mavericks for guard/forward Spencer Dinwiddie and forward Davis Bertans.

What does it give the Washington Wizards
The Wizards get the best player in this deal in Porzingis (when healthy). The problem is he is rarely healthy. Currently sidelined, Porzingis will either play center or power forward and give Washington even more size and dominance up front. The Wizards also receive a second-rounder here. They should win this trade if they can somehow keep Porzingis healthy.

What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
Dallas was probably fed up with the long injury history of Porzingis, so they dealt him in exchange for Dinwiddie and Bertans. The latter should help replace some of what Porzingis brought to the table, while Dinwiddie adds even more solid guard play to the Mavericks. He will either start next to Luka Doncic or come off the bench.

Fantasy impact
Porzingis is always a crapshoot due to his long injury history, but he might get a new lease on life in D.C. Pick him up if available in some leagues. Bertans figures to see more playing time with Dallas, so he too might be an interesting pickup down the stretch. Dinwiddie figures to lose a lot of fantasy value since he will no longer be a starting point guard.
