POELTL PICKED UP BY TORONTO

The Toronto Raptors acquired center Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs for center Khem Birch, a first-round draft pick in 2024, a second-round draft pick in 2023 and a second-round draft pick in 2025.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
The Raptors are Poeltl's original team, but he was sent to San Antonio as part of the Kawhi Leonard trade in 2018. He gives Toronto a true starting center and a building block up front.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are among the worst teams in the NBA this season, so this move should come as no surprise. Adding another first-round pick down the road is good business at this time.

Fantasy impact
Poeltl should continue to be a quality center option in fantasy leagues, although he is headed to a better team. Therefore, he may see a slight downgrade in terms of his overall numbers. Birch is mostly a depth player at this point in his career. He can be ignored in most fantasy formats.
