HART HEADS TO NY IN FOUR-TEAM TRADE

In a four-team trade, the New York Knicks acquired forward/guard Josh Hart from the Portland Trail Blazers; the Philadelphia 76ers acquired forward Jalen McDaniels and a second-round draft pick in 2024 from the Charlotte Hornets, and a second-round draft pick in 2029 from the Trail Blazers; Portland acquired forward/guard Matisse Thybulle from the 76ers, and forward/guard Cam Reddish, guard Ryan Arcidiacono and a first-round draft pick in 2023 from the Knicks; and Charlotte acquired forward/guard Svi Mykhailiuk and a second-round draft pick in 2027 from the Trail Blazers, and a second-round draft pick in 2023 from the 76ers.

What does it give the New York Knicks
Hart adds solid depth on the wing for New York. He can play either small forward or shooting guard and has been effective coming off the bench in the past. He was also a starter for Portland, so he gives the Knicks options. New York surrendered a first-rounder for Hart, so they obviously have big plans for him.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
McDaniels should prove to be a solid upgrade (over Matisse Thybulle) off the bench for the 76ers. He can play either forward position and provide scoring in a reserve role. The Sixers also received two second-rounders in this deal, so they made out pretty well here. Is this deal enough to put Philadelphia over the top?

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Portland added Thybulle and Reddish as wing options in this trade. A defensive specialist, Thybulle may see a lot more playing time as a Trail Blazer. Arcidiacono may become Damian Lillard's backup at point guard. The first-round pick from New York is the key to the deal.

What does it give the Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets moved one of their best options off the bench here, but the team is going nowhere this season. Therefore, it is all about the future for Michael Jordan's squad. Mykhailiuk is merely a depth player at this point, so the two second-round draft picks hold value for Charlotte.

Fantasy impact
Keep an eye on both Hart and Reddish after this trade. Both players may have sleeper appeal in some fantasy formats. However, it will depend on how they are used by their respective new teams. McDaniels is a fringy fantasy forward, but the move to Philadelphia could help his stock. He might be worth a flyer. Thybulle is a great defender but needs to show more on offense to become more of a fantasy factor. Arcidiacono and Mykhailiuk should continue to be ignored.
