TORONTO TRADES FOR OLYNYK AND AGBAJI
The Toronto Raptors acquired forward/center Kelly Olynyk and forward/guard Ochai Agbaji from the Utah Jazz for guard Kira Lewis Jr., forward Otto Porter Jr. and a first-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Toronto Raptors
Despite sitting well out of playoff contention, Toronto brings in the veteran Olynyk, an unexpected move. The Canadian will improve the Raptors for the rest of this season, but in the longer term Agbaji is the more intriguing piece. A first-round draft pick in 2022, Agbaji could emerge as a useful player in Toronto.
What does it give the Utah Jazz
Though the Jazz had a .500 record on trade deadline day, they are looking ahead to next season. Porter Jr. and Lewis Jr. likely will not see much playing time in Utah, with both on expiring contracts as well. The return on this trade was all about the draft pick from Toronto.
Fantasy impact
Olynyk gets a small boost from the trade, and Agbaji could get the same depending on his role with the Raptors. Both are worth watching in deeper fantasy leagues. Utah's acquisitions are not fantasy relevant, but Brice Sensabaugh or Taylor Hendricks should now see increased playing time and could be worth monitoring.
