BOGDANOVIC AND BURKS TO NEW YORK
The New York Knicks acquired forward Bojan Bogdanovic and guard Alec Burks from the Detroit Pistons for guards Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn and Ryan Arcidiacono, forward/guard Evan Fournier, two future second-round draft picks and cash considerations.
What does it give the New York Knicks
For the Knicks, injuries to key players have been piling up lately. Bogdanovic and Burks are veterans who should fit in perfectly as reinforcements. Bogdanovic should especially take on a big role and has valuable playoff experience. Clearly, the Knicks think they can win now, and this trade positions them well for a playoff run this spring.
What does it give the Detroit Pistons
The struggling Pistons continue their fire sale, moving some of their few veteran players. In return, they get a haul including draft picks (though no first-rounder) and four players highlighted by Grimes, who could see more minutes in Motown. Flynn and Fournier will not likely see much playing time, while Detroit is expected to waive Arcidiacono.
Fantasy impact
The fantasy value of both Bogdanovic and Burks takes a small hit, as they will have more competition for playing time in New York. The 23-year-old Grimes has shown promise and could develop better in Detroit. He is on the fantasy radar. Flynn, Fournier and Arcidiacono can be safely ignored in most leagues.
