CATS LAND RICHARDSON
The Charlotte Bobcats acquired forward Jason Richardson and forward Jermareo Davidson from the Golden State Warriors for forward Brandan Wright.
What does it give the Charlotte Hornets
The Bobs get an established star in Richardson. That said, he is not exactly as explosive or as dependable as he once was, coming off knee surgery and a season in which he didn't look like the same high-flyer so loved by Warriors fans. Davidson is a solid sleeper who will add front-line depth. This may not be a great move financially for the Bobs if Richardson doesn't play up to his contract, but Wright was a risky pick to begin with.
What does it give the Golden State Warriors
They save money and add an athletic big-man who is a nice fit for them. The Warriors have financial issues starting with ownership, and Richardson was the obvious choice in cutting payroll. Whether Wright can live up to his massive potential remains to be seen, but if he does he will be the perfect fit for Golden State's up-tempo style because he can also play in the post. That said, he needs to add more intensity, bulk, and toughness or he may end up being a bust. A risky move by the Warriors, but maybe a necessary one.
