The "human joystick" was explosively elusive with the ball in his hands. He was a constant big-play threat out of the backfield thanks to an amazing ability to cut laterally, combined with above-average speed and superb quickness. He also showed good patience and excellent vision, plus very good receiving skills (thanks in part to his big hands). His lack of ideal size for an NFL running back limited him, and he was not an ideal fit for a power/inside running scheme. Ball security issues were also a problem for him, and he sometimes tried to do too much.
