Covington (pectoral) was placed on the Chargers' injured reserve Wednesday.
Chargers coach Brandon Staley said that Covington suffered a torn pectoral during Sunday's loss to the 49ers and could miss the remainder of the season, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Reliable and versatile, he can line up as a 4-3 defensive tackle, a 3-4 defensive end or even over the center as a nose tackle (if required). That ability to play several different positions along the D-line helps teams immensely, which is why he is an asset at the National Football League level. Primarily a run stopper, he is not a big sack artist and is often replaced on passing downs.
Long Range Potential: Solid, versatile defensive lineman.
